But he ended up betraying Homunculus and he was punished with amnesia so Dr Wagner is really Eike Kusch. In the end it turns out Dr Wagner initially released Homunculus from the Stone and made a deal for eternal youth. He previously attempted to but failed due to his inexperience with alchemy and brought back the wrong soul. Hugo built a time machine to take revenge on Eike and to search for the Philosopher's Stone so that Hugo can resurrect his dead mom.
